This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Program.** **Posting ID**: 3977 **Department**: Social & Community Services **Division**: Housing Services **Pay Range**: $39.34 - $45.98 **Job Type**: Contract < 1 Year **Contract Duration**: 10 Months **Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week **Work Location**:Halton Regional Centre - 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville **Employee Group**: CUPE 3732 **Posting Date**:March 3, 2025 **Application Deadline**:March 7, 2025 **CUPE Local 3732 applicants will receive first consideration for this position.** **Job Summary**: Reporting to a Supervisor, Client Placement this role will be responsible for administering Halton Region’s Rent-Geared-To-Income (RGI) program for Halton Community Housing (HCH) and the Rent Supplement (RS) program and other affordable housing programs by; managing tenant placement in regional housing units, screening and assessing initial, interim and ongoing eligibility for RGI assistance and other programs, calculating RGI subsidy and providing case management and support to HCH and RS tenants, including tenant engagement and eviction prevention. **Duties & Responsibilities**: - Calculate RGI subsidy for new & existing tenants. - Administer the RGI Rent Supplement program and Tenant Placement for Halton Community Housing. - Administer tenant placement by generating appropriate waitlists from YARDI Rent Café and referring appropriate and eligible applicants to view vacant units. - Assess and determine eligibility for Halton Access to Community Housing (HATCH) and manage the ongoing centralized waitlist including: respond to complex and/or escalated issues from applicants, Housing Providers, Supportive Housing agencies, internal & external agencies. - Complete rental agreements with new tenants and ensure the integrity of client/tenant information, financial and statistical data within a number of computer software programs and spreadsheets. - Investigate cases of misrepresentation and take steps to verify information, take appropriate action to ensure eligibility for subsidy or financial assistance including removal of RGI subsidy. - Conduct screening and assessment individuals and families for approval for housing subsidy and portable housing benefit assistance under the Housing Services Act and Rent Supplement Program. - Ensure ongoing case management and coordinate service planning with internal and external partners to support existing Halton Community Housing and Rent Supplement tenants. - Perform other duties as required. **Skills & Qualifications**: - Post-Secondary education in Behavioural or Social Sciences, or Business Administration or Community College Diploma in Social Services. - Minimum of two (2) years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience. - Proficient use of YARDI 7s and Rent Café, and computer programs such as Excel and Word. - Knowledge of the Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Ontario Works legislation, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), to assess eligibility under the Housing Services programs. - Excellent communication, interviewing and assessment skills. - Strong problem solving and mathematical skills to determine eligibility for Rent Geared to Income (RGI)/Rent Supplement subsidy, Housing Stability, and Housing with Related Supports programs eligibility is preferred. - An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. **Working/ Employment Conditions**: **Working Conditions** - Travel to various sites required, incumbent must provide their own transportation. **Employment Conditions** - Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen, by the first day of employment. - The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment. - In accordance with requirements in Ontario Regulation 191/11 - Integrated Accessibility Standards and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Halton Region will accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
