The Surviving Memory in Postwar El Salvador project is a collaborative research project led by FIMS and funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). It includes partners and co-applicants from other faculties at Western University, Carleton University (Canada), KU Leuven (Belgium), Aarhus University (Denmark), Central American University (El Salvador), the University of El Salvador (El Salvador), Salvadoran municipal governments, and numerous Salvadoran and Canadian civil society organizations and non-profits. The research initiative is a well-established international partnership of survivors, scholars, artists, lawyers, museums, architects, community organizers, municipal governments, civil society organizations and mental health professionals who are committed to documenting the history of the Salvadoran Civil War (1980-1992) and preventing future violence. **Responsibilities**:
**Purpose of the Role**:
Reporting to the Director of the Postwar El Salvador project, the Financial Coordinator will use their biligunal English and Spanish skills to asisst in carrying out the activities and tasks associated with parnter communitcation, budgeting, finances and performance reporting. This includes the written materials for a variety of platforms, production of performance reports, financial reconciliation and bookkeeping, stakeholder relations, and project branding.

**Key Goals of the Role**
- Increase the number of internal and external partnerships to support the project activities.
- Coordinate budget and financial activities for the project, including bookkeeping activities with external vendors.
- Work with international partners to track sub-grants, monitor expenses, and report on research activities in El Salvador.
- Work with faculty members in FIMS and other UWO participating faculties, and affiliated faculty supervisors from across campus, to identify opportunities to develop project resources.
- Implement and maintain Policies and metrics related to FIMS, UWO, SSHRC and the project overall ensuring the adherence to Western’s processes related to legal agreements and risk management, as well as collect data to support quality improvement planning, implementation and reporting.

***Key Accountabilities**:

- Maintain project bookkeeping activities regularly with national or international vendors, as well as external and internal stakeholders.
- Assist the Project Director with the project’s annual budgeting process.
- Coordinate the financial reporting process, invoicing and disembursement of funds with the project’s Local Coordinator in El Salvador.
- Prepare quarterly invoices, matching contribution reports and annual financial reports for Western Financial Services and other external stakeholders.
- Organizing and coding financial physical and digital files for auditing purposes.
- Provide support and training in financial reporting to partners and collaborators as needed.
- Collaborate acrosss internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support work beyond one’s own task.
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English to clearly express ideas in an objective manner and adapt communication style to suit the situation, stakeholder and audience.
