**Role Purpose**:
Performs a variety of human resource functions, including: conducting hiring processes, new employee orientation, administering benefits, entering employee information into the automated resource system, maintaining personnel files and investigating workplace incidents/accidents.
The incumbent will be expected to contribute at an operational level in all areas of Human Resources including talent management, employee relations, employee management, HR planning, integration and program delivery, standardization, governance, total rewards and all legislative requirements regarding Health, Safety and Environmental Standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- Performs new hire orientations which includes entering payroll data into ADP and logging new hire information into the HR data base.
- Assist in providing effective training services for the facility through planning scheduling, monitoring etc. internal and external training programs.
- Maintain employee personnel files, both manual and HRIS system files for hourly and salaried employees.
- Owner of Service Recognition Program for the Kitchener Plant.
- Participate in Local Human Resources community to network and understand local issues and trends.
- Maintain effective employee relations by providing counsel to employees on HR matters.
- Updates the HR data base.
- Administers benefit programs including medical, dental, pension.
- Participate in health & safety and quality audit process.
- Performs month end reporting
- Is a member of the JHSC and prepares minutes and investigates plant accidents/incidents.
- Responsible for: Return to Work, Medical Assessment, Industrial Hygiene Requirements, etc.
- Administration of all health and safety programs and policies at the facility.
- Administration of all health and safety initiatives.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree coupled with Professional Human Resources Designation.
- Experience in staffing professional, technical, clerical, skilled trades and production functions including testing, screening and training. Good knowledge of salary administrations and benefit administration.
- A solid working knowledge of applicable employment legislation including Health & Safety, Workers Compensation, OH&SA, Employment Standards, EEO, AAP, DOL etc.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S and Kaizen.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, HRIS).
- Solid understanding of all facets of HR management with the ability to persuade and influence decision makers at multiple organizational levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and end user training ability.
