Surespan Construction Ltd. is a general contractor working on heavy civil construction projects with a focus on bridge construction. Surespan constructs projects throughout Canada.

Surespan is recruiting a Payroll & Benefit Manager based in its North Vancouver head office. Reporting to the Vice President - Finance, the Payroll & Benefits Manager will be responsible for overall accountability for payroll and related issues. This involves overseeing the entire payroll and benefit functions.

Tasks and Responsibilities:_**

The Payroll & Benefits Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

- Managing the weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing for 300+ employees working in multiple provinces across Canada, both salary and hourly as well as union and non-union.
- Mentoring one (1) Payroll Administrator.
- Processing the semi-monthly salary payroll for multiple payroll companies.
- Ensuring payroll actions are in accordance with Surespan financial policies and procedures, Canada Revenue Agency regulations, multi-province Workers’ Compensation Board regulations, multi-province Employment Standards, various union agreements and employment contracts.
- Responding to payroll enquiries from internal/external stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Quarterly and Yearly multi-province Workers’ Compensation payments and installments.
- Monthly internal payroll recoveries between multiple payroll companies.
- Responding to payroll related issues with the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Prepare and print all payroll related Accounts Payable cheque runs.
- Year-end reporting and T4 issuance.
- Facilitating the annual fiscal year-end process including analysis of payroll anomalies and preparation of adjusting entries related to salary accruals, payroll receivables and other year-end adjustments affecting the financial system.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- Minimum of 5+ years payroll experience with a Certified Payroll Designation (PCP or.CPM); Experience managing a payroll team is an asset.
- Must have experience working with a full cycle payroll.
- Advanced computer skills including experience with payroll systems, Time and Attendance functions, benefit enrollment, & Microsoft Office
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum software is an asset.
- Must have experience working with union agreements.
- Must have previous experience in Payroll accounting management (general ledger entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, etc.)
- Able to work both independently and with a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and impeccable attention to detail.
- Able to quickly recognize errors and omissions and formulate timely solutions.
- Solid time management and follow-through skills.
- The ability to work under pressure in a high volume environment while meeting tight deadlines
- Adept at handling sensitive documents and situations, with the ability to maintain confidentiality
