The **City of Kitchener** is WHERE you want to work Learn more about the top reasons to join us: **Why work at the City of Kitchener** Position Overview: - The Corporate Security Guard provides security services to ensure the protection of City property, staff, and the rights of all citizens to use and enjoy City-owned property safely. **Responsibilities**: - Manages behavior and enforces Corporate policy and by-laws on all City-owned property. - Patrols and/or monitors properties and activity on all City-owned properties and assets. - Respond to City wide alarms and client requests for assistance. - Provides security for Corporate special events. - Secures City Hall and other Corporate properties daily. - Operates central alarm monitoring station, C.C.T.V. and audio alarms. - Provide directions and assistance to the public and visitors to City Hall ensuring a friendly and helpful public image. - Acts as the person in charge during emergency situations. - Appear in court as required. - Deliver deposits. - Performs other related duties as assigned. **Requirements**: - Minimum 2-year College Diploma in related field (i.e./ Law and Security Administration, Police Foundations, Criminal Justice or equivalent as determined by management) - Minimum one (1) year of related experience. - Valid Security Guard license as issued by Private Security & Investigative Services Branch, Province of Ontario. - First Aid Certificate including CPR & Use of AED (can be attained post-hire). - Certification in Use of Force & Handcuffing (can be attained post-hire). - Valid MTO "G" class driver's license in good standing with ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment. - Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check at your own expense as a condition of employment. - Working knowledge of Security related software/equipment, such as the: Axiom System, ITrak, and CCTV's. - Ability to interpret various acts and authorities under the Criminal Code, Trespass to Property Act, and Municipal Codes. - Ability to work shifts with rotating days off. - Must be willing to wear a uniform as supplied and maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times. - Excellent public relations and communications skills to communicate both verbally and in writing in a concise and efficient manner. - Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation. - Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. - Please note that as per Human Resources Policy _HUM-HIR-_110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":_ - "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all _Directors,_ General Managers_, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._ - The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_ - 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full_-time and part-time classifications._ - 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_ **Department** Infrastructure Services **Division** Facilities Management **Union Affiliation** Non-Union/Management **Number of Positions** 2 **Hours of Work** 40 hours per week, rotating shifts including evenings and weekends **Location** **Initial Location** - City Hall **City** Kitchener **Compensation** **Salary Range** $70,687 to $88,358 annually **Grade/Band** 7
