**Responsible to**:Settlement Services Manager

**Responsibilities**:To support English language acquisition and integration of newcomers by providing leadership to the Language department at YWCA Settlement Services. The Language Coordinator performs all tasks related to the administration of the ESL/language program. Collaborating with the Settlement Services Manager on the supervision of ESL/language staff and budget, as well as, with the Volunteer Coordinator to plan and implement volunteer run programing as well as any promotional activities. The Coordinator is responsible for reporting on all ESL/language programming and related administrative activities.

- ** Must poses a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence;**:

- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check;
**Education & Experience**:

- University Bachelor’s Degree related to Education or Business Administration from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- High proficiency in oral and written communication;
- TESL Certification and/or teaching experience is an asset;
- Experience with ESL language programming is an asset;
- Experience in program development and implementation;
- Coordination experience;
- Experience in Human Resources;
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Experience in a multicultural setting;

**Objectives**:

- Supervise day to day operation of language classes: ensure language instruction is compliant with YWCA policies and procedures;
- Work to establish and implement procedures for program delivery, in coordination with Manager;
- Perform duties associated with attendance control including monitoring attendance, follow ups with clients;
- Provide ongoing support to LINC instructors;
- Advise instructional team on emerging issues and collaborate with the language team to develop strategies to address any issues;
- Manage client intake and withdrawal;
- Liaise with assessment agencies (LARC) and other service provider organizations;
- Coordinate language assessments for clients;
- Oversee daycare arrangements and payments;
- Work with Settlement counsellors when necessary;
- Work collaboratively with manager to participate in Supervision;
- Conduct orientation, training, evaluation of teaching staff;
- Data input & maintenance of adequate reporting records of program development.
- Complete monthly reports, assist in annual reporting.
- Collaborate with Manager regarding program finances, balancing the program budget;
- Maintain inventory of classroom materials and replace as needed;
- Perform troubleshooting for maintenance of computers and office equipment;
- Liaise with community contacts; represent the language program provincially as needed;
- Works closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure that instructors are meeting requirements in the classroom and students' portfolios reflect PBLA learning;
- Assist staff with planning outings and field trips: Coordinate extracurricular activities (i.e. field trips and guest speakers) to meet class themes and enhance students’ learning experience;
- Delegates tasks, negotiates workloads, assesses performance and reports on developments;
- Ensures monthly and quarterly reports, timesheets, and financial claim deadlines are met;
- Conducts regular ESL meetings and attends meetings in place of Manager, if needed;
- Responds to practicum requests, and works with instructors to place students;
- Ensures that equipment and resources are in place to support language learning;
- Keeps current with relevant program information and responds accurately to client, staff, and community inquiries;
- Participates in staff meetings; contributes to committees, events, and initiatives deemed appropriate by the management;
