**SUMMARY**
We have an exciting career opportunity for a QA Technician to become part of our team As a QA Technician, you will be responsible for quality assurance and food safety initiatives throughout the facility with a focus on maintenance of the SQF system and CFIA regulations. This role will be reporting to the QA Manager.
**KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Conduct monitoring activities of random incoming products (net weight, temperature checks, label verification, organoleptic, etc.) of random incoming products.
- Conduct random organoleptic inspection of products in an inventory and report findings.
- Monitor and verify random products and labels during processing.
- Monitor and verify that finished products and labels are correct and meet regulatory, and customer specifications.
- Monitor completion of records on the floor.
- Monitor staff and surroundings for GMP & HACCP compliance and enforce the Food Safety program through communication with production personnel.
- Assist in investigating product quality, foreign matter, and food borne illness complaints.
- Complete various inspection reports and any non-conformance/deviation.
- Supports and drives a strong culture of food safety, and quality within the plant.
- Partners with the operations team working collaboratively to deliver against our business needs.
- Perform any other food safety and quality control related job assigned by QA Manager or Food Safety Specialist.
**ABOUT YOU**
- You have successfully completed post-secondary education from an accredited education institution with a diploma in Science/Food Science.
- 1+ years experience working with food safety and quality standards.
- If you have experience with inspection of fish products, this is an asset.
- A passion and knowledge for safe food handling and GMP’s.
- You have ability to work with production staff and management.
- Able to read, write, listen to, and follow instructions in English.
- You have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to stand, walk, reach, and grip products in a refrigerated environment.
- Ability to lift up to 55 Ibs. if required.
**WORK CONDITIONS**
- Monday to Friday. May need to work weekends occasionally.
- Schedule is from 4AM to 12PM or as needed. May require flexibility in hours in access or outside of normal working hours to accommodate testing of products.
- On-site role in a refrigerated and wet environment.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 17 months
**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
