**SUPPORTIVE HOUSING MANAGER (temporary contract up to 6 months with possible extension)**
CMHA Kelowna is seeking a talented individual to join our Supportive Housing team. This team is focused on assisting citizens of the Central Okanagan who have experienced chronic homelessness or are at significant risk of homelessness.
This role is 37.5 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm, but evening and weekend work is likely to be required or emergency situations.
**WHO IS A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING MANAGER?**
The Manager of Supportive Housing ensures that staff are trained, supported, and guided to achieve the best possible standards of practice. As a part of the CMHA program leadership team, the Manager performs administrative duties including policies and procedure development and implementation and maintains a strong link between front line service and organizational planning and visioning that is consistent with the overall values and strategic directions of CMHA Kelowna.
The Supportive Housing Manager will oversee a portfolio of housing within CMHA Kelowna that currently includes:
- Willowbridge
- Heath House
- Gordon Place
- Ellis Place
- McCurdy Place
**WHAT DOES A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING MANAGER DO?**
- Supervises, provides guidance to, and consults with Team Lead staff on a regular basis by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback and evaluation, determining training requirements, orienting new staff, and maintaining timekeeping and attendance records.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic plans, goals, and objectives for housing programs.
- Ensures that all Supportive Housing sites have consistent policies and procedures are in place, and being followed. Reviews/revises policies in conjunction with Senior Leadership based on identified needs and circumstances.
- Performs budget duties such as developing budget submissions, exercising signing authority, monitoring expenditures, following up on anomalies, and taking action to resolve problems.
- Works in collaboration with all sites in the development of case management plans. Supports in decision making regarding housing allocation and/or ending of residency including as a member of the local CAA.
- Supports team leads and staff where immediate or urgent response is required such as critical incidents and/ or problematic evictions.
- Offers support to the On-Call designate as a last case scenario for serious incidents that require senior management input in decision making or consultation.
- Performs public relations and liaison activities with community groups, community partners.
- Implements and evaluates programs and projects.
- Consults with community groups and health care professionals to identify trends, needs, and priority health issues.
- Works in collaboration with site team leads to resolve staffing problems, including calling in staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Participates in recruitment and selection of staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, providing input into the development of interview questions, and making hiring recommendations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
**YOUR STRENGTHS AND EXPERIENCE**:
- Diploma/degree in a relevant discipline (social/human services, management, leadership),
- A minimum 3 years of experience in a management/leadership role
- Direct working experience in the Supportive Housing and Homelessness sector, with a well-rounded understanding of current best practices and the evidence base in serving individuals experiencing, or at-risk of, homelessness
- Strong organizational, people, and writing skills
