**Job Summary**
As a Seasonal Line Cook/Prep Cook at El Afrik Lounge, you will play a crucial role in crafting the unique flavors and authentic tastes that define our menu. Your culinary expertise will contribute to the success of our fast-food restaurant by preparing and presenting traditional African dishes with creativity, precision, and authenticity. This is a **seasonal position**, ideal for individuals looking to work during the busy holiday season and bring their passion for African cuisine to life in a fast-paced environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional African dishes, including but not limited to fried rice, jollof rice, grilled chicken, fried plantains, suya, fish roll, and beef patties.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to El Afrik Lounge's standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, always following health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new and innovative African-inspired menu items.
- Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, ensuring timely and accurate ordering of ingredients and supplies.
- Uphold food cost control measures while minimizing food wastage.
- Stay updated on current culinary trends and techniques, incorporating them into the menu when appropriate.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the kitchen team.
**Requirements**:
- Proven work experience as a Cook, with a focus on African cuisine and dishes.
- In-depth knowledge of African cooking techniques, spices, and ingredients.
- A genuine passion for African cuisine and a desire to share its flavors with our customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Creativity in developing new menu items while maintaining the authenticity of traditional African dishes.
- Flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and **holiday shifts**.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution.
- Previous experience working in a fast food or restaurant setting.
- Familiarity with West African or other specific regional African cuisines.
