As a Hydrogeology/Engineering Student, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta office as part of our Western Groundwater team for a 4 or 8-month student position starting January 2025. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
- Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture- Assist with the development and implementation of hydrogeology programs- Perform a variety of field work including collecting drill cuttings/core/soil and groundwater samples, installing monitoring wells, conducting pumping tests, conducting packer testing, and installing, setting up and collecting data sets from groundwater monitoring equipment.- Work with Project Managers to develop workplans that ensure project deliverables are in line with scope, timelines and budgets- Support a variety of technical reports including analyzing, interpreting results and reporting on compiled project data- Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs- Complete projects with a variety of off highway vehicles (e.g. side by sides, ARGOs), and helicopters

What We Are Looking For- Must be enrolled in a Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science program at a recognized post-secondary institution.- Basic understanding of hydrogeologic principles such as aquifer analysis, aquifer testing methods including pump testing and k-testing, and core logging, will be considered an asset.-
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.- Self-starter, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn and grow.- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record

This is a term position with a hourly rate range of $20.00-$25.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location. We are also committed to flexible work hours and schedules, team-based work, and cross-training opportunities.
