**Job Summary**
The Employment Counselor will provide individualized and group support to clients facing mental health and/or addiction challenges, assisting them in achieving sustainable employment. The role involves intake assessments, success plan development, job search coaching, and collaboration with employers and community partners to ensure client success.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Support & Service Delivery
- Conduct intake meetings, assessing clients’ employment goals, barriers (e.g., mental health, addiction), and readiness for work.
- Develop personalized Success Plans with clients, including goal-setting, resource identification, and actionable steps.
- Provide one-on-one coaching for resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and workplace retention skills.
- Deliver group workshops (e.g., networking, interview skills, motivation) tailored to client needs.
- Assist clients in accessing supports and accommodations (e.g., TESS funding, volunteer placements, community agencies).

Employer & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with employers to advocate for clients and identify job opportunities.
- Educate employers on duty to accommodate and mental health/addiction supports.
- Participate in networking events to promote the program and connect clients with local labor market opportunities.

Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate client records using Contact-NB.NET case management system, and internal systems.
- Keep statistic up to date and accurate for ease of reporting and target review.
- Ensure compliance with all federal/provincial laws and organizational policies.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Degree or diploma in social work, counselling, career development, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

**Experience**:

- Familiarity with mental health and addictions.
- Familiarity with creating action and support plans.
- Familiarity and experience coaching and advising supports related to barriers being experienced by the clientele.
- Familiarity with labor market trends and job search tools.

**Skills**:

- Client-Centered Counselling - Motivational interviewing, trauma-informed support, and barrier assessment (e.g., mental health/addiction).
- Employment Coaching - Resume writing, interview prep, job search strategies (online platforms, networking).
- Workshop Facilitation - Delivering group sessions (e.g., networking, workplace skills).
- Labor Market Knowledge - Understanding of local job trends and employer needs in Southeast NB.
- Case Management - Proficiency with Contact-NB.NET or similar systems; accurate documentation.
- Employer Engagement - Building partnerships and advocating for inclusive hiring practices.
- Adaptability - Adjusting strategies for clients with cyclical readiness.
- Crisis Management - Basic de-escalation techniques.
- Bilingualism - French/English proficiency.

Willingness to travel locally (own vehicle an asset).
