Job Title: Job Developer
Employment Support for Individuals Facing Barriers
Position Summary:
The Job Developer plays a critical role in supporting individuals who face significant barriers to employment. This position focuses on building strong relationships with employers, advocating for inclusive hiring practices, and connecting job seekers to meaningful employment opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, resourceful, and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the challenges related to mental health, addictions, criminal records, employment gaps and other co-occurring barriers.
Key Responsibilities:
. Employer Engagement & Networking
. Build and maintain relationships with local employers to identify job opportunities.
. Promote inclusive hiring practices and educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with diverse backgrounds.
. Match job seekers with suitable employment opportunities based on skills, interests, and readiness.
. Client Advocacy & Support
. Advocate for clients with potential employers, highlighting strengths and potential.
. Support clients in overcoming employment barriers through coaching, referrals, and resource navigation.
. Collaborate with case managers, counselors, and other support professionals.
. Labour Market Research
. Stay informed about current labour market trends, in-demand industries, and hiring practices.
. Identify emerging opportunities and align job development strategies accordingly.
. Program Development & Reporting
. Contribute to the design and delivery of employment readiness workshops.
. Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, job placements, and client progress.
. Provide regular reports and feedback to program managers.
Key Strengths & Qualifications:
. Strong advocacy skills and a passion for social inclusion.
. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
. Excellent networking and communication skills.
. Deep understanding of mental health, addictions, and other barriers .
. Knowledge of local labour market trends and employment standards.
. Experience in employment services, community outreach, or business development and networking are considered an asset.
. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a not-for-profit environment.
Education & Experience:
. Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Career Development, or a related field.
. Experience in job development, employment counseling, coaching, advocacy, or community engagement.
