Accounting Technician

Global Tax & Accounting has a permanent part time or full time position open in our Red Deer location. This is an **“IN OFFFICE”** position only. We are seeking **long term employees** who are prepared to establish long lasting relationships with peers and clients.

**Required skills**:

- Excellent English skills both written and spoken,**
**- Accounting Technician experience in Canada including**:

- Create Chart of Accounts and carry over opening balances,
- Reconcile: bank accounts, credit card accounts, basic investments, CRA accounts,
- Close books by transferring temporary accounts to permanent accounts and the respective financial statements,
- Ability to recognise and recategorize incorrect entries,
- Create Year End adjusting entries for: amortization of Capital Assets, prepaid expenses, taxes payable / receivable, owners equity contributions / withdrawals, dividends, payroll remittances, financing amortization,
- Bring bookkeeping to a Trial Balance for year end and then adjust as necessary for an Adjusted Trial Balance for the corporate tax returns,
- Use of Excel spreadsheets,
- Knowledge and correction of GST codes in bookkeeping
- Knowledge of GIFI codes,
- Work with clients to request necessary documentation, clarify expenses, educate client on their business and required reporting and administration processes,
- Work with accountant in assisting to prepare tax returns,
- Create and issue invoices,
- Knowledge of payroll and tax remittances,
- Must have a valid RepID with the Canada Revenue Agency,
- Basic reception skills and payment acceptance systems,
- Assist with cleaning / sanitizing office,

Preference will be given to those with experience in other accounting firms and use of various accounting softwares as well to those with tax preparation experience.

**Optional skills**:

- Experience in preparing **Personal tax returns**,
- Experience in preparing **Corporate** **tax returns**,
- Knowledge of investments,
- Familiar with accounting softwares: Quickbooks Online, DTMax, Caseware Workpapers, TaxPrep tax preparation software,
- Knowledge of electronic signature software,
- Degree / certificate in accounting or relevant field,
- Marketing / business / management skills or education,
- Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator
