**Optimum Insurance Company Inc. - Winnipeg / Winnipeg / Permanent / Full time**:
**Specific Responsibilities**:
- Is responsible for the development and successful execution of broker and territory level business plans for an assigned group of brokers in accordance with the regional commercial business plan for profitability, growth, retention and service standards;
- Visits brokers who represent Optimum Insurance Company in order to promote and present the Company’s commercial products, promote profitable growth and retention;
- Makes risk selection decisions within assigned level of authority;
- Identify opportunities for new commercial and regional program business, and the development of productive and successful working relationships with assigned brokers.
- Maintains an awareness of market trends, price levels, legal requirements and case law applicable to commercial underwriting;
- Negotiates optimally to develop and maintain a profitable book of business;
- Provides technical training coaching and development support where appropriate;
- All other related tasks.
**Experience and Training**:
- Post-secondary degree;
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive mid-market commercial underwriting experience
- CIP designation (or enrolment).
**Qualities and A**ptitudes**:
- Ability to select, underwrite and manage small and intermediate commercial accounts;
- Account development and analysis skills;
- Comprehensive ability to understand, respond to, and effectively manage broker/customer concerns;
- Knowledge of competitors and the insurance market;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong organizational, planning and decision-making skills;
- Proven negotiation skills;
- Good team player.
