About the role
The Operator Specialist is responsible for performing daily batch injections in validation, production, and method development in Mass Spectrometry. The Operator Specialist monitors the injection performance and troubleshoot difficult issue in Mass Spectrometry. Act as a mentor for the operators’ team. Optimizing injection schedule to meet clients’ deadlines.
The Operator Specialist will work during the evening shift; Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm
What You’ll Do Here
- Starts the batches of various types of projects (validation, production, method development) and follows the batches performance to promptly identify possible problems (e.g.: retention time shifting, sensitivity drops, instrument communication problems).
- Monitors instrument performance throughout the injection to perform troubleshooting, system interruption, and batch re injection procedures and intervenes where necessary.
- Completing and verifying injection forms.
- Completing supplementary information forms as needed to complete documentation.
- Performs specific instrument optimization by FIA or infusion on mass spectrometers.
- Summarizes and enumerates essential points during “hand off” to subsequent shift.
- Assist to pre-study meeting to know essential points related to futures injections in a specific project.
- Responsible for appropriate column care (e.g. maintenance, rinsing, replacement).
- Creates and maintains the daily injection schedule by establishing project priorities with Managers and Scientist in Mass Spectrometry.
- To conduct all work in compliance with applicable SOPs, GCPs, GLPs, and observe all company guidelines and policies.
- Respects Health and Safety standards in terms of personal protection, laboratory maintenance, and work procedures.
- Assist Junior Operator during troubleshoot in Mass Spectrometry.
- Compiles Key performance indicator and create graph monthly for instrument usage.
- Manage as to maintain timeline and scheduling commitments.
- Be autonomous in schedule planification.
- Good communication of issues and problem resolution to Whom it may concerned.
- Have an excellent quality work according to good laboratory practices.
- Satisfy our intern & extern client’s demand.
- Be an expert in multiple injection types (validation, production, R&D analysis’)
- Have an excellent costumer’s service.
- Manage project and order appropriate material, as needed.
- Autonomous and proficient developing, planning, managing, conducting, reporting and troubleshooting multiple assay types to ensure injection quality, regulatory expectations and client’s satisfaction. Validation, production, R&D analysis’s expert in multiple injection types.
- Support and mentor Operators in the daily operations for completion of sample analysis injections.
- Support and mentor other team members based on expertise.
- Answer to intern and extern clients’ questions.
- To write, review and updated method SOP as needed.
- Software validation.
- Injection & Testing during an event resolution.
- Other related tasks.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
- College or University Degree in Chemistry or equivalent field
- Experience in the medical and/or pharmaceutical fields with typically 2 years of pertinent experience.
- Good communication (both written and verbal in French & English
- Must understand general SOPs and have knowledge of GLP regulations.
- Good organizational skills, attentive to details with respect to sample pretreatment procedures and raw data handling,
- Manual dexterity essential.
- Basic knowledge of mass spectrometry.
