Here's how an Indigenous Relations Manager for the Centre Block Rehabilitation project contributes to our team:
**Responsibilities**:
- Advises management and project teams on matters of protocol and cultural sensitivities with respect to interacting with various Indigenous communities, groups, and individuals.
- Consults and advises with the Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) directorate within the Centre Block project on the Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP),
- Increases business opportunities for our Indigenous partners and helps to coordinate and facilitate meetings between Indigenous communities/organizations and PCL representatives.
- Participates in business development and assists the team with proposals, negotiation of agreements, securement of contracts, and identifying business opportunities within Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Represents PCL at industry events and conferences to develop and maintain relationships.
- Assists with the recruitment of personnel to work within the Ottawa market.
- Supporting our operations team in planning, logistics and budgeting as it pertains to work in Indigenous communities.
- Connects and builds relations with Indigenous communities and organizations, particularly where PCL has existing partnership agreements in place.
- Provides leadership and mentorship on PCL's approach to reconciliation, community involvement, and community development.
- Identifies, tracks, and monitors issues, concerns, and interests identified by Indigenous communities, clients, and partners on how PCL can support to build mutually beneficial relationships and capacity building programs.
- Participates in Corporate Social Responsibility activities related to Indigenous communities, and Indigenous organizations.
- Promotes Indigenous cultural awareness within PCL and our Joint Venture partnership.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in arts, humanities, community development, Indigenous studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience with Indigenous relations at a management level.
- 5+ years of intercultural experience, preferably with a focus on working with Indigenous nations in community development activities.
- 5+ years of Engineering, Construction Management or similar experience considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Indigenous history and culture, protocols, and governance.
- Knowledge of the Government of Canada's commitment to implement within Federal government departments, the mandatory Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP) in all bids, as they relate to contract bidding from Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
- Knowledge of culturally appropriate Indigenous engagement and consultation processes and protocols.
- Knowledge of current legal climate and issues affecting Indigenous peoples and communities.
- Strong organizational, planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and advance strategic community solutions.
- Ability to travel to Indigenous communities.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset.
- Must be able to obtain a Government security clearance.
