Caseworker, Women’s Mobile Support Program

The Women’s Mobile Support (WMS) caseworker will provide a continuum of care for women exiting out of the Vanier Centre and support additional identified women from the pre-discharge, discharge to stabilization with flexible operating hours. The WMS caseworker will provide a strong mentoring relationship and encourage safe and healthy decision-making, nurtures independence and skill development, and provide connections and referrals to community resources required for successful reintegration. The WMS caseworker will work specifically (collaboratively) with the Community Organizations and Probation Services in providing a coordinated approach that will ensure a greater impact.

The Women’s Mobile Support caseworker will be responsible for facilitating virtual education programs offered online face-to-face supports in order to facilitate community reintegration, promote personal well
- being, and enhance community safety by addressing the underlying causes of marginalization. In providing these supports EFRY Hope and Help for Women aspires to establish community linkages in order to address social and justice issues related issues such as mental health, substance use, employment, and poverty. The programs are offered to adult men and women, the participants will be able to engage in psycho-educational on-line education programs developed through evidence-based programs.

The WMS caseworker must be available to work out of various locations including but not limited to

Brampton, Mississauga, Halton Region and across York Region. There is potential that the WMS will be required to travel to Hamilton, London and Lindsey as part of reintegration planning. The hours for this position may vary from Mondays to Fridays and evening hours may be required.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Provide one-on-one client support, case management and counselling, and acts as an advocate with emphasis placed on developing appropriate resources and connections to community supports and services.
- Serve as liaison between the Agency and women exiting out of Vanier Centre through connecting with Discharge Planners at within the Provincial Institutions. Provide information and support to accused persons and their families before, during and subsequent to court proceedings where appropriate
- Fosters professional relationships and maintains communication with all relevant members of the social / justice community.
- Establish and provide the necessary continuum of care that supports successful reintegration ie housing, employment, education, addiction, mental health, and various other types of programs and services based on the individualized case management. With the emphasis on accessibility within their home or chosen community.
- Ensure that the confidentiality of all client records and information is maintained and that the privacy rights of the client are protected.
- Prepares monthly statistical and qualitative reporting for submission to the Manager of Residential Programs.
- Recruit and provide job/agency orientation, training, ongoing supervision and direction to programme volunteers and placement students. Submit progress reports/evaluations on students to their placement supervisors
- Committed to participating on various committees and advocating for women
- Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.
- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of the Vanier Centre for Women and demonstrated awareness of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Canadian Criminal Code, Family Law and Ontario, and the Family Services Act
- Knowledge of the judiciary and court systems and their high-level procedures and protocols, as well as the roles of court personnel
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Knowledge of women’s issues including criminogenic factors.
- Diagnostic and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non
