Shu Cake Boutique Group is an Asian inspired pastry and cake brand seving GTA for more than 8 years. We are currently seeking a versatile baker and cake designers to impress our customers with delicious new cake creations. As a baker and cake designer, you will liaise with the executive chef and other chefs to design seasonal menus. Your duties will include baking and designing cakes for confectionary displays, scheduled events, and special requests.

**Baker and Cake Designer Responsibilities**:

- Consulting with the executive chef and other chefs to discuss desired cake designs and cake decorating ideas for specialty cakes.
- Executing cake orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
- Designing and decorating cakes according to customers' specifications.
- Demonstrating skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies.
- Assisting baking staff with the production of standard bakery items.
- Producing different kinds of icing, frosting, and cake fillings based on cake type and customer preferences.
- Monitoring equipment and ensuring all specialized baking tools are in working order.
- Maintaining the good running order of specialized baking equipment.
- Cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and ovens as well as baking and decorating equipment.

**Pastry Cook Requirements**:

- High school diploma or GED.
- Mandarin speaking is preferred.
- Associate degree in baking and pastry arts, or similar preferred.
- Post-secondary vocational training at a culinary institution would be advantageous.
- 2 or more years of experience as a baker, cake designer or similar.
- Creative ability in designing, decorating, and filling confectionery and cakes.
- Ability to coordinate with other chefs and manage baking section staff.
- In-depth knowledge of food industry regulations.
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when required.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

**Salary**: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
