**Walk Beside Youth. Build Independence.**
Do you believe that guidance, structure, and genuine connection can help a young person build a better future? Are you passionate about helping youth develop life skills and confidence as they transition into independence? Are you ready to show up with consistency, empathy, and patience for those finding their way?
If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
Street Culture Project is hiring Youth Transition Unit (YTU) Mentors to support youth ages 13-24 as they work toward stability and independence. In this role, you’ll walk alongside youth in their daily routines, model healthy habits, and build relationships that foster accountability, growth, and hope.
**What You’ll Do**
This role is about steady presence and meaningful mentorship. You’ll be part of a team that helps youth build the confidence and skills they need to navigate life’s next steps — from cooking and budgeting to finding housing and employment.
You’ll:
- Build safe, trusting, and respectful relationships with youth
- Support youth with daily living, goal setting, and life-skills development
- Help youth access community resources and navigate challenges
- Model consistency, boundaries, and positive decision-making
- Work collaboratively with other mentors and case management staff to ensure coordinated support
**What You Bring**
We’re looking for someone who leads with empathy, patience, and accountability.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary in youth work, social services, or related field an asset
- Experience supporting youth with complex needs (paid or volunteer)
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and teamwork skills
- Ability to balance compassion with healthy boundaries
- Commitment to SCP’s core approaches: Trauma-Informed Practice, Harm Reduction, Youth-Centred Care, and Strength-Based Mentorship
- Training such as CPR/First Aid, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (asset)
**Additional Requirements**
- Valid SK Driver’s Licence with clean abstract
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexibility for day, evening, and weekend shifts
**Why Work With Us?**
At SCP, mentorship means more than guidance — it means walking beside youth as they grow. We believe independence comes from connection, consistency, and care.
You’ll be part of a supportive, values-driven team committed to building a community where young people feel seen, capable, and supported to thrive.
We offer:
- Flexible scheduling and supportive supervision
- Professional development and growth opportunities
- A trauma-informed, collaborative workplace culture
- The opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of youth
**Sound like a fit?**
SCP is committed to reflecting the diversity of the youth we serve. We strongly encourage Indigenous applicants and individuals from marginalized communities to apply.
