Walk Alongside Youth. Build Belonging.

Do you believe that safe spaces and strong relationships can positively influence a young person's life? Are you interested in creating environments where youth feel seen, heard, and supported? This role involves showing up with empathy, consistency, and care for youth who may benefit from additional support.

Street Culture Project is hiring Treehouse Mentors to join our evening team and support our drop-in program for youth ages 13–24. In this role, you'll help create a safe, welcoming space, walk alongside youth in their day-to-day challenges, and support belonging and resilience through mentorship, guidance, and group activities.

What You'll Do

This role focuses on connection, encouragement, and presence. You'll be part of the team that youth can rely on—whether they are looking for resources, a safe place to spend time, or someone to talk to.

You'll:

  • Build safe, supportive, and respectful relationships with youth
  • Support youth with homework, resources, and everyday needs
  • Co-facilitate wellness groups, recreational activities, and discussions
  • Model healthy boundaries and provide mentorship that encourages belonging and growth
  • Work collaboratively with other mentors and program staff to create a positive environment

We're looking for someone who can contribute compassion, consistency, and curiosity to the team.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in youth work, social sciences, or education is an asset
  • Experience in youth work, mentorship, or education (paid or volunteer) is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Commitment to SCP's core approaches: Harm Reduction, Youth-Centred Care, Trauma-Informed Practice, and Strength-Based Mentorship
  • CPR/First Aid, ASIST, or Mental Health First Aid training (asset)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid SK Driver's License with clean abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Evening availability (3:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday)

Why Work With Us?

At SCP, mentorship is about showing up, walking alongside youth, and creating spaces where they can thrive.

We offer:

  • Flexible evening shifts
  • Supportive, values-driven team culture
  • Opportunities to develop skills in mentorship, group facilitation, and youth support
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth in our community
