**Role Summary**
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations (VPO), the **Academic Director** is responsible for providing educational leadership and maintaining student welfare.
**Responsibilities**
**Student Welfare: Prospective, Current and Alumni**
- Takes the necessary steps to provide a safe and caring environment that fosters well being and responsible behavior in each student.
**Educational Leadership**:
- Support leadership in all matters relating to education at each campus and with the Academic Committee.
- Establishes and maintains clear, consistent expectations that encourage students to pursue and achieve educational goals.
- Works with the VPO to consider the implementation of various measures to assess the academic achievement of students, including but not limited to tests administered by faculty, average grads on student achievement reports and the averages between various campuses.
- Provides leadership to promote clear, consistent, expectations that focus on success outcomes for students.
**Policies and Procedures**:
- Assist with the development and review of policies and procedures to improve student faculty and staff relations and organizational operations.
**Organizational Management**:
- Demonstrates effective organizational skills that result in compliance with all legal and ministerial mandates and timelines.
**Strategic Planning and Growth Implementation**:
- Provides considerations for the development and review of a multi-year strategic plan, in accordance with leadership and industry mandates.
- Regularly discusses campuses improvement plans and support expansion initiatives.
**Communications and Community Relations**:
- Establishes and maintains positive working relations with fellow colleges, associations, clinics and RMT’s.
- Reports violations of regulations, policies or guidelines to leadership.
- Establishes, with Marketing, effective communication strategies to keep the faculty, administration and students informed of successes, local issues, news and decisions.
- Ensures that faculty have the opportunity to provide appropriate advice and support.
- Participates in community affairs in order to enhance and support the MOCC students and promote public awareness.
**Daily Operations**:
- Enhance direct entry enrolment
- SMP/MT interviews
- Give campus tours
- Plan and coordinate events with Marketing team
- Policy management
- Manage academic probation students
- Address dispute concerns
- Manage campus inventory and resources
**Qualifications**
- Certified Manual Osteopathic Therapist.
- Minimum 1-year experience in an educational setting.
- Experience working with adult learners.
- A high level of organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and database software.
- Ability to exercise good decision-making skills.
- Experience in conflict resolution and consensus building.
- Results driven and quality focused.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain close and productive relations with work colleagues at all levels.
- Be an outgoing, confident, affable and positive personality.
- Be capable of showing initiative including the ability to think ahead and work independently without constant direction to deliver his/her outputs.
**Education**:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- Manual Osteopathic Therapy Diploma (MOTD or MOPD) from a WHO Type II-compliant program (preferred)
