The English Language School (ELS) in the Faculty of Education provides language training and support for undergraduate and graduate student programming, as well as short-term study abroad programs for international students from diverse cultures. The ELS is home to our Student Engagement Centre (SEC) and provides training for international Bridging Program (BP) and Year One Foundation Program (YOFP) students.
**Position**
Under the general supervision of the Director, the Coordinator, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) will set up, organize and coordinate activities necessary to successfully deliver the English for Academic Purposes program, including the EAP components of the UAlberta Bridging Program and Year One Foundation Program (YOFP). This includes student registrations, transfers, and withdrawals in both the core credit and non-credit sections of EAP courses, as well as other courses offered by the English Language School (ELS). The EAP Coordinator is a key contact for both the students and BP participating faculties. The incumbent will be responsible for providing student advising on issues related to students' EAP/BP/YOFP studies, communicating ELS and University policies and procedures to ELS students, tracking enrolment statistics, and reporting on enrolment trends. As such, the EAP Coordinator will be required to work closely with a team of stakeholders: internally, the ELS Director and Assistant Director, teaching staff, and other team members to ensure administrative support is in place to deliver ELS courses. Externally, the EAP coordinator will collaborate with other campus stakeholders, such as the Bridging Program, Year One Foundation Program and student service advisors at the Registrar Office, along with Faculty student advisors. This interaction is required in order to coordinate campus-wide EAP activities, exchange updates about student progress and facilitate the process of a range of student record management tasks.
Apart from administrative duties mentioned above, the EAP Coordinator will be responsible for directing international students at ELS and their dependents to the appropriate office on campus regarding study permit related matters.
