**Job Summary**

We are seeking a detail, oriented and organized accounting clerk to join our team at Johnston Meier Insurance in Maple Ridge. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting support, data entry, and financial recordkeeping. If you have a keen eye for accuracy, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you

**Responsibilities**:

- Process accounts payable and account accounts receivable transactions
- Maintain accurate and organized financial documents
- Support month end and year-end financial close procedure
- Communicate with vendors, clients and internal departments regarding financial matters
- Perform data entry and maintain account databases
- Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries as needed

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required**
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions
- Proficiency and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and data entry
- Knowledge of bank statement reconciliation and financial records
- Proficiency in preparing invoices, expense reports, and payment records
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks
- Ability to work in a team setting, is willing to learn
- Ability to take direction from team lead
- Experience in the insurance industry - preferred but not required

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) an asset
- 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
- Experience working in an insurance or financial services environment is an asset

**About Johnston Meier**

Pay: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
