To provide timely engineering support to meet technical data requirements, quality standards and delivery schedules for product development and production activities. This is an entry level position.
**Responsibilities**
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement where appropriate.
- Prepare and update technical data for review and approval; release approved technical data and revisions as required.
- Prepare airworthiness data packages for submittal to airworthiness delegate.
- Ensure DAO requirements are satisfied for content of technical data.
- Review and approve (where appropriate) technical data.
- Prepare and update work instructions as required.
- Prepare and update CNC files as required.
- Reverse engineer components or assemblies using the coordinate measure machine (CMM) or equivalent means.
- Perform structural analysis as required using hand calculations and/or finite element analysis as appropriate.
- Prepare structural and flammability test plans / reports as required.
- Assist with structural and flammability testing as required.
- Support technicians with identification and interpretation of OEM or customer supplied technical data as required.
- Support production with timely responses to non-conformances (NCR) including assigning corrective actions as required.
- Prepare project plans as required.
- Ensure the planned technical approach is followed during all project phases
- Identify scope creep and report to appropriate Director, Manager or Team Leader.
- Communicate with the customer on technical issues as required
- Prepare for and participate in design reviews (internal, preliminary, and critical design reviews) and production reviews.
- Support Buyer / Planner in the sourcing of non-routine materials with vendors to meet specific requirements.
- Work with Technicians during the development phase of designs to ensure appropriate processes are developed and chosen.
- Provide technical assistance as requested by Quality Assurance.
- Participate in QMS activities such as internal audits, corrective action requests, and Material Review Board (MRB) as required.
- Assist quality assurance or conduct inspections with coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
- Assist with the preparation of quotations, bids and proposals and any subsequent contract review in the areas of statement of work, technical approach, technical proposal and assessment of technical risk, project scheduling, milestone definition and costing.
- When required, additional roles and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the appropriate Director, Manager or Team Leader.
**Requirements**:
- Degree / Diploma obtained through a College / University program related to Engineering or Design Technology, preferably in mechanical design and / or advanced composite structural design
- Technical education with relevant experience
- Proficient working knowledge of Catia, SolidWorks, or Mechanical Desktop
- Solid grasp of mathematics and mechanics
- Knowledge and understanding of GD&T
- Basic knowledge of structures (e.g., beams, plates, joints, etc.)
- Experience in an aerospace environment would be an asset
- Some experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset
- Must be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical employees (written and verbal)
