Position: Controller
Location: Calgary, Alberta (Canada)
Duration: Fulltime
**Responsibilities**:
Oversee accounting department; supervise and mentor staff, provide guidance and support to the accounting team
Complete month end functions and prepare internal financial statements
Ensure compliance with all government filings and timely completion of all requirements
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
Preparation of year end working papers and act as liaison with external accountants
Lead onboarding for all newly hired employees
Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures as well as federal and provincial legislation
Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Preparing bi-weekly payroll and review of payroll reports
Administers and manages employee benefit plan
Analyze new and existing customer credit accounts to assess credit risk; approve and set limits & payment terms
Make sound credit and collection recommendations regarding customer risk in a fast-paced environment
Communicate effectively with external customers and members of the sales team
Daily collaboration with the management team
Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience
Managerial and leadership experience is strongly preferred
Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
Strong understanding of GAAP (ASPE) and financial controls
Ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
Self-motivated with ability to work independently as well as on a team
Strong critical thinking skills and proactive problem-solving skills
Pay: $90,246.17-$112,507.04 per year
**Education**:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
**Experience**:
- Accounting: 4 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (required)
