Overview:
The Benefits and Rewards Consultant acts as the first point of contact for the comprehensive benefits and reward programs. These programs include health and dental benefits, employee and family assistance, pension and insurance plans, leaves and retirements, and recognition programming.

The Benefits and Rewards Consultant works closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate all aspects of programming. The position leads the promotion, awareness and education of benefits and reward programming, ensuring various stakeholders are engaged in the communication and information sharing with employees.

The Benefits and Rewards Consultant works collaboratively to ensure effective and timely processing of changes and ensures employees understand the scope of options and impacts.

**Responsibilities**:

- As the main point of contact, ensures employees have accurate information related to employee life events, including any impacts to benefits and pay.
- Prepares for and delivers new employee benefits orientation sessions.
- Tracks and initiates eligibility and registration of staff into pension and life insurance benefits.
- Processes insurance-related claims for employees, such as critical insurance and death benefits.
- Investigates, assesses, and resolves complex and unique employee circumstances with regards to benefits.
- Reviews monthly and annual reports, taking steps to resolve and/or update information for accuracy.
- Leads the promotion, awareness, and education of benefit and recognition programming.
- Participates in the implementation of benefit-related matters, including program updates and re-enrolments.
- Leads any programming enhancements, ensuring program intent is meeting the needs of the business. Regularly reviews various programming and makes recommendations to improve current services.
- Prepares and maintains confidential employee benefit files.
- Provides administrative support for HR program delivery and assists in confidential matters with all areas of human resources, as required.
- Coordinates and communicates regularly with external benefit providers and organizations and helps to resolve any concerns.
- Liaises between departments and teams to ensure that programming is utilized, as necessary, considers broader trends and patterns, and brings forward recommendations to improve employee engagement and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

- Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset.
- Education in benefits (CEBS, CBP) or a related discipline is an asset.
- 3 years' experience in human resources administration.
- Knowledge of employee benefit and recognition programs.
- Problem solving skills and analytical ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Oral and written communication skills with the ability to present information effectively to various audiences.
- Ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues in a confidential matter.
- Interpersonal skills to support a corporate-wide program and interact successfully at all levels.
- Initiative and ability to multi-task, coupled with intermediate organizational skills.
- Ability to establish deadlines and personal work plans and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
