We need someone willing to start from the basics, put the work in, and aim high.
We are looking for a Field Operations Specialist to join our team in Vancouver, BC. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious and motivated person familiar with electronics to get started in a scaling start-up that has significant traction in Vancouver. **The role includes the following activities**:

- Supporting our deployed systems at customer sites throughout the lower mainland. This includes both remote troubleshooting and on-site work. Our customers include Residential and Commercial multi-unit-residential buildings.
- Understanding the hardware and software of multiple connected power and communication devices as a system.
- Using web interfaces, command line tools, log files, physical probes, and other digital, electrical or mechanical methods to test system components in the field.
- Diagnosing hardware and software problems and correcting them, such as by reconfiguration, update, replacement, or cooperation with other team members.
- Travel to customer buildings in the GVRD (must have a Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle).
- Developing and scaling our network operations centre to support deployed products.
- Continuing improvement of your skills, product knowledge, and workflow including identifying opportunities for tool improvements and automation.

**Required Qualifications**
- Ability to operate with limited supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Natural technical skills and the ability to figure things out.
- Able to recognize and identify faults in electronic components.
- Basic understanding of micro-controllers and embedded devices such as Arduino

**Preferred Qualifications**

We are not selecting based on what you have done, but rather on what you will do. That said, having any of the following would be an asset:

- Understanding of building electrical systems.
- Some understanding of network operations and building automation.
- Experience working with customers - either through sales or support (retail counts)
- Experience in a combined hardware and software company, or a start-up.
