As a Individual Living Support Worker, you will be working closely with clients who live independently in their own apartments/homes but still require support such as, housekeeping (laundry and/or cleaning of their space), Meal Preparation for clients who cannot cook or use ovens on their own, attending medical appointments and assisting them in the community
- going for walks, going to get groceries, running errands or attending life skills.

The benefits of the ILS Position is to have more independence being out in the community, the hours have more flexibility and most importantly you get that one on one time with your clients to build a trusting relationship.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assisting clients with activities of daily living, including (but not limited to) administering medications, bathing and personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, attending medical appoints, etc.
- Assisting clients’ transition to community living where appropriate
- Practices a person-directed approach to supporting clients
- Improving client’s quality of life by making a positive impact on everyday activities
- Developing a strong respectful relationship with the clients you are supporting
- Nurturing a strong rapport with family members, while also building and maintaining relationships with other supports
- Planning and facilitating leisure, recreational and social activities
- Maintain detailed and accurate files on each client including daily and quarterly reports
- Responding appropriately in times of crisis/emergency

**Qualifications**:

- High school graduate
- The 7 Provincial Core Competencies outlined by Department of Community Services (can be completed upon hire)
- Ability to provide a clear, current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
- Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be a team player and demonstrate a high degree of initiative, judgement, and a positive can-do attitude
