The Opportunity

DASC is currently looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual committed to the vision, values and philosophy of inclusion to join our team. We currently have a permanent part-time position, three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), providing 1-1 support to a DASC participant. Reporting to a Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting the participant at DASC, in the community with employment and volunteer opportunities, at home with activities of daily living and with recreation and leisure activities.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and be particularly skilful at inspiring and motivating others. The ability to relate positively with individuals with an intellectual disability and work both as part of a team and independently are further qualities needed to be successful. This can be a physically-demanding job that necessitates a high level of energy. Flexibility will be required.

What We Offer

This position is centrally located on Dorey Avenue in Burnside (Dartmouth), making it accessible from any part of the greater Halifax area. DASC's hours of operation are Mon-Friday, 8am – 4pm, however the hours for this opportunity may be different.

Our Ideal Candidate

As our ideal candidate, you must have:

• Relevant University degree/NSCC Disability Supports and Services Program

• Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability

• Seven Provincial Core Competencies

• Experience with Individual Program Planning and supporting positive behaviours

• Current and Valid Criminal Record Check; Vulnerable Persons Check;

• Ability to work independently in a positive team focused environment
