**Role and Responsibilities**:
The specialist will interact closely with our HR department as part of their day-to-day function in order to help us achieve our objectives.

The specialist will participate with the head of Finance and head of HR in defining our global payroll strategy, including scaling options, tools, processes, and providers.
- Ensure payroll processing, including related tax filings and payments are done timely and accurately, including updating provincial/state unemployment tax rates
- Assist with the set-up of new accounts with various federal, state, and local agencies as well as in future jurisdictions
- Create, maintain, and archive all personnel files (new hires, termination, etc.) and payroll records within regulatory compliance
- Assist with paperwork and processing for onboarding all new hires, employee termination, and status change
- Ensure eligible employees are enrolled in the applicable benefit plan within the time frame required. Regularly audit to ensure employees that have completed the waiting period are set up for pension and benefits contributions
- Develop and maintain adequate internal controls to assure accuracy of deductions and billing for benefit plans
- Conduct the timely and accurate processing of all health and benefit plan transactions, 401(k) funding, spending accounts, COBRA administration and other tasks as needed
- Day-to-day employee point of contact for all payroll, benefit and pension/401(k) related matters

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Canadian and/or USA processing payroll
- Experience administering Group Benefits and Pension/401(k)
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely and accurate manner
- Flexibility and ability to undertake several tasks simultaneously and prioritize them effectively
- Must be able to work within a diverse work group in a professional and courteous manner

**Education**:

- Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (preferably in business, finance or accounting)

**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**:

- Experience working with ADP Workforce
- Experience working with BambooHR
- Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite
- International experience, especially in Eurozone countries is considered an asset
- Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (Canada)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) (USA)
