**Position Summary**:
This position is primarily responsible for data analysis, preparing data for presentation in reports, and other knowledge exchange tasks. This position ensures that data analysis and research activities carried out comply with FNHA’s priorities, standards and best practices. Additionally, as part of a multidisciplinary team, this position actively engages in the implementation of the Regional Health Survey as needed.
**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**
**Responsibilities**:
- Conducts data analysis, prepares summaries, visuals, major reports and discussion papers primarily concerning the Regional Health Survey (RHS) as well as and other data banks.
- Prepares analysis plans and frameworks as directed by the manager, supported by a multidisciplinary team
- Collaborates with Community Leads, and central and regional staff to obtain and provide necessary information around major research, data sets, and data governance and management related issues, and recommends effective solutions.
- Communicates with communities and Nations post data collection to ensure appropriate and useful information is made available for multi-level policy, planning and program development
- Participates in multi-disciplinary and data-related project teams and working groups, duly called meetings with provincial and regional teams, participates in training activities, and liaises with various regional offices and departments
**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A University Degree with an acceptable specialization in one or more of the following areas; biostatistics, epidemiology, mathematics or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
- An understanding and/or completion of courses in advanced statistics, and/or biostatistics, public-health analysis and/or evidence-based methods
- Preferred successful completion of a post-secondary education or specialized program with a First Nations focus
**Experience**
- Relevant, recent and significant experience in data collection, data analysis and presentation of data to a wide variety of audiences (normally acquired over a period of 3-5 years)
- Experience with BC First Nations communities and/or organizations
**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:
- Advanced knowledge of the concepts, theories and principles of statistics (quantitative and qualitative analysis), bio-statistics and epidemiology is required to: plan, design and conduct epidemiological, bio-statistical and statistical analyses and surveys+
- Knowledge of statistical software SPSS and Excel must
- Knowledge of data collection, research and analysis methods and research approaches reflective of Indigenous epistemologies
- Decision making - Uses sound judgment to make good decisions based on information gathered and analyzed. Considers all pertinent facts and alternatives before deciding on the most appropriate action. Commits to decision.
- Problem solving - Analyzes problem by gathering and organizing all relevant information. Identifies cause and effect relationships. Comes up with appropriate solutions with mínimal supervision.
