**Job Posting**

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Customer Contact Centres, you will provide quality customer service to the customers and internal clients of the Halifax Regional Municipality; processing cash receivables (tax payments, general revenue, animal licensing, parking tickets, selling of bus passes & tickets, various by-law licensing functions), and responding to general inquiries from the public. The Customer Service Representative is a first point of contact with the general public, and therefore, must represent the Halifax Regional Municipality with a high standard of professionalism.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides accurate and timely customer service to the public and internal clients.
- Accepts responsibility for large volumes of cash, processing various revenue streams.
- Balances daily batches and prepares bank deposits.
- Using a technology solution and adhering to established procedures, ensures that transactions and end of day balancing and deposits are completed accurately.
- Works independently, effectively organizes, prioritizes, and problem solves multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Performs administrative functions such as maintaining inventories of transit tickets/passes.
- Demonstrates ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining a professional manner.
- Other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Grade 12 and a diploma from a recognized educational institution in Office/Business Administration or a suitable combination of training and experience.
- Minimum three years’ recent experience (within the last 5 years) in customer service, dealing directly with members of the public in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Minimum two years’ experience in handling large volumes of cash, processing various revenue streams, including balancing and preparing bank deposits (Please clearly demonstrate your cash handling experience in your resume).

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**:

- Proven ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment.
- Proficient in the use of current software relevant to business unit including, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- General knowledge of basic accounting functions, in relation to cash handling, i.e. cash balancing, preparing bank deposits and security procedures.
- Attention to detail and mathematical skills required to ensure accuracy in counting and balancing of bank deposits.

**Security Clearance Requirements**: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

**WORK STATUS**: Two (2) Temporary, Full Time (up to 18 months) positions.

**HOURS OF WORK**: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM. Some overtime may be required.

**SALARY**: $30.28 per hour as per NSGEU Local 222 Collective Agreement Level 5 (Employees may be compensated at 90% of this rate for the probationary period).

**WORK LOCATION**: The work location for these positions will be at one of two Customer Service Centre locations; 40 Alderney Drive Dartmouth, and 7071 Bayer's Road Halifax. Operational requirements will necessitate the movement from one Customer Service Centre to another.
