**About the Role**

Under the supervision of the Band Administrator, the Social Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of social development programs and services including, but not limited to, the income assistance program, the provision of family support, counselling, and assisted living program. The Social Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing employment programming and support for unemployed adults. The Social Development Coordinator will establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with K’omoks First Nation staff and representatives of other departments and agencies in all aspects of social development as well as, services development and delivery.

**What you will be doing**
- Interpreting and implementing the DISC Social Development Policy to provide clients with a clear understanding of the purpose, services, and requirements of the Social Development Program and to make appropriate referrals for counselling to address addictions, family violence, and mental health as required.
- Determining eligibility needs and providing related resource referrals for applicants.
- Developing and managing the annual budgets for the Social Development program including Income Assistance.
- Ensuring that Income Assistance cheque requisitions are processed in a timely manner and payments are accurate according to policy rates and guidelines rates for basic support, shelter, and special needs.
- Accepting and or assisting with job referrals for Income Assistance clients
- Providing referrals for family support and counselling for individuals, children, youth, and families where required and appropriate.
- Building relationships and partnerships with employment agencies to facilitate return to work and other employment opportunities for the membership.
- Completing annual client reviews and other reporting in a timely and thorough manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

**What you will need**
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience working with social development programming
- Post-secondary education and/or training in the field Human Services
- Experience working in an indigenous environment is preferred.
- Comfort and competency working with budgets and recordkeeping.
- Class 5 drivers license with clear driver’s abstract.
- Clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.
