**Job Summary**
**Reports to**: Supervisor of Programming
The Recreation and Wellness Instructor is responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of Crossing All Bridges Learning Centre’s (CABLC) Recreation and Wellness program. This includes direct programming to CABLC participants, exploring opportunities for community involvement and facilitating inclusive community experiences.
The Recreation and Wellness Instructor is a key part of the organization, which includes the Board of Directors, Executive Director, Manager of Operations, and Supervisor of Programming.
**Duties**
1. Responsible for the development and implementation of recreation and wellness programming to all participants to inspire them, using a holistic approach, to reach their full physical potential and encourage mindful and healthy living. Programming includes but is not limited to circuit training for strength and balance, healthy living/aging actively, mind/body exercises, relaxation techniques, leisure awareness, goal setting, and basic anatomy.
2. Initiate, develop, and nurture external partnerships to enhance programming and provide opportunities for volunteer experiences and community engagement.
3. Supervise lunch periods and breaks.
4. As required, assist participants in community activities (e.g., outings, special events, volunteer opportunities).
5. Supervise arrival and departure of participants.
6. Maintain all participant files and documentation in an appropriate and accountable manner according to established standards.
7. Ensure consistency of quality, accountability and high standards in all programs and services through the preparation of comprehensive program plans with the support and guidance of the Supervisor of Programming.
8. Keep track of inventory and ensure that all needed program materials are stocked, organized, and appropriately accounted for.
9. Maintain appropriate fiscal controls to ensure all program expenditures are within the scope of the annual budget.
10. Maintain accurate and complete statistical records where required for all programs.
11. Ensure that consistent and meaningful ongoing evaluation of all programs and services is carried out to assess their impact and success, and to make needed changes and improvements as necessary.
12. Ensure appropriate use of document/information management on the CABLC NDrive.
13. Comply with all CABLC Health and Safety policies.
14. Adhere to the Confidentiality Policies of CABLC.
15. Ensure comprehensive clean-up of program areas is completed at the end of each day (e.g., sanitizing all common surfaces, sweeping, and dusting).
**Other related duties**
1. Participate actively as an organization representative in collaborative partner networks and in related community activities.
2. Identify learning needs for program and services of the organization as a whole and seek out needed training.
3. Attend all mandatory training and self-development courses aimed at enhancing the course content and delivery of programs of the organization.
5. Must hold a current certification in First Aid and CPR.
6. Must obtain a Police Clearance including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
7. Must provide any other documentation as stated in your resume as required.
8. Complete general housekeeping as determined by the organizational need on a daily or weekly basis.
**Qualifications**
1. Able to communicate instructions and knowledge clearly and effectively to individuals living with varying developmental abilities and learning styles.
2. Punctual and dependable.
3. Able to take charge of a room and keep a small group on task and on schedule.
4. Team player.
5. Positive, enthusiastic, and energetic.
6. Successful supervisory experience in managing a small group of individuals.
7. College Diploma or certificate in a related field (Educational Assistant, Personal Support Worker, Developmental Support Worker, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation). Experience or background in personal training, recreation, and leisure, working with adults with varying developmental abilities is an asset.
8. Good oral and writing communication skills.
9. Good computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and data processing.
10. A capacity to work collaboratively.
11. Capable of working with diverse populations.
12. Non-judgmental.
13. Experience working with individuals with varying developmental abilities.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
