**Communications and Special Projects Coordinator**

The Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC) is the national trade association of the livestock feed industry. ANAC acts as the voice of the feed industry in dealings with government policy makers and regulators as well as agri-food stakeholders. Our efforts are aimed at fostering a favorable regulatory and business environment for our members, while supporting initiatives to maintain the highest standards of feed and food safety.

The Communications and Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for the association’s communication activities including the website, newsletters, social media and webinars. This role also oversees the organization of the Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada and manages a selection of the association's projects.

This position works in collaboration with the Executive Director and other team members on specific projects such as developing material for members related to ongoing regulatory requirements, emerging issues and industry best practices.

**Responsibilities**
- Oversees and maintains the integrity of the association website.
- Initiates, prepares and posts social media communications.
- Provides support to other staff members on communications.
- Manages, prepares and reviews the association’s newsletter and other direct member communications such as regulatory updates and special bulletins.
- Supports other staff members with digital communications such as webinars and online meetings.
- Facilitates the graphic design of publications.
- Manages the preparation of the Annual Review.
- Oversees the planning of the Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada (ANCC) including working in collaboration with the organizing committee on developing the program, sponsorship, student events, etc.
- Organizes the communications and registration for the ANCC.
- Oversees on-site organization of the ANCC in collaboration with the Office Administrator (including booking meetings rooms and AV).
- Works with the Executive Director and other staff on new projects, including the development of project plans and executing those plans to completion.
- Maintains projects, where appropriate, to ensure their continued success. (e.g., Canadian Feed Industry Education Program).
- Communicates project outcomes with membership and other relevant stakeholders.

Work is often complex, requiring accuracy and attention to detail. There is autonomy in the way work is completed, requiring business acumen, a member-relations focus and excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English. Bilingualism, with at least spoken French, would be a distinct advantage.

The working environment at ANAC is highly collaborative and collegial. This small group of employees demonstrate professionalism, respect and passion for their work, while being supportive of each other’s roles. Staff members work independently, however teamwork and flexibility is key.

**Qualifications & Knowledge Requirements**
- A Post-Secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant progressive experience in communications and project planning.
- Work experience in an association, in a communications or project management role, would be an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) are required.
- High level of competency in English (written and spoken) is required. Bilingualism, with at least spoken French, would be a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage projects within budget and to deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Detailed knowledge of MS Office is essential.
- Detailed knowledge of marketing automation platforms (Mailchimp) and WordPress would be an asset.
- Ability to travel 5% - 10% of time.
