**PURPOSE and SCOPE**:
The Health and Safety Coordinator organizes and directs the MacDon safety management system and ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, industry standards and best practices. The safety and health coordinator will be required to promote safe behaviours, safe work practices and environments, as well as maintain and administer the safety management system with the objective of minimizing incidents and injuries.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides direct support for the Joint Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JOSCH) members regular safety management system and safety training audits
- Supports regular industrial steel storage racking audits and inspections, and other internal audits as required
- Assists in the identification, development and communication of safety and health related information, via safety talks, safety fact sheets, the MacDon SharePoint Safety & Health Web Page and MacDon Employee Connect
- Conducts safety and risk assessments using company risk assessment process
- Administers and maintains area inspection process
- Supports area leadership incident investigation and provides recommendations for corrective action
- Coordinates JOSCH activities, meetings and meeting materials as required
- Reviews, updates, amends, and ensures safety training material meets regulatory and legislated standards and company policies.
- Reviews and maintains safe work procedures database
- Coordinates regular third-party safety management system audits
- Reports and responds to regulatory activities as required, as well as monitor and advise on legislative and technical changes relating to health and safety
- Provides health and safety training as require
- Assist in the development, coordination, and maintenance of emergency preparedness plans
- Coordinate regular emergency evacuation drills and prepare post-event reports
- Participate in the coordination and facilitation of regular new employee onboarding
- Provide administrative support to MacDon safety team, as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**
- Graduate of the Occupational Health and Safety Program at Red River or other post-secondary education in Health and Safety
- Previous experience in Health and Safety in a Manufacturing Environment an asset

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Ability to work in a team.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Formally trained in lifting and mobile equipment operations is considered an asset
- Trained Safety System Auditor is considered an asset
- Exceptional computer and management skills, with ability to coordinate and publish data and information
