**PROFILE**

As the Business Development Specialist, U.S. Sales, you will play a key role in driving the firm’s U.S. market growth. You will own and execute business development and go-to-market strategies that enhance our engagement with U.S.based clients, prospects, and key industry stakeholders. With a data-driven and strategic mindset, you will provide insights, recommend focus areas, and lead targeted initiatives to maximize opportunities for U.S. client expansion, relationship development, and revenue growth.

This role requires strong collaboration with partners, BD colleagues, marketing teams, and global counterparts to align U.S. initiatives with firm-wide strategies and ensure seamless execution of high-impact business development activities.

This role can be based in Ottawa or Toronto.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Strategic Business Development & Market Growth
- Develop and activate U.S.focused business development strategies that align with firm-wide priorities and revenue objectives.
- Leverage market intelligence and data analytics to recommend areas of focus and drive client growth opportunities.
- Own and lead U.S. go-to-market initiatives, ensuring alignment with key sectors, practice groups, and firm priorities.
- Monitor, measure, and report on key business development activities, tracking progress to plan and ensuring initiatives remain on budget.

Client Targeting & Relationship Development
- Conduct client and market analysis to identify priority U.S. clients, prospects, and business opportunities.
- Support client teams in outreach, cross-selling strategies, and account development to drive engagement and revenue growth.
- Develop client-focused recommendations based on competitive intelligence, industry trends, and market opportunities.

Sales Mission & Event Strategy
- Plan and execute targeted sales missions, ensuring effective team participation, messaging, and follow-up to maximize client impact.
- Identify and manage engagement with key industry events, trade associations, and conferences to elevate the firm’s U.S. presence.
- Collaborate with marketing and practice groups to ensure event sponsorships, speaking engagements, and campaigns align with BD priorities.

Proposal & Content Development
- Develop high-impact pitch materials and proposals tailored to U.S. clients and prospects, collaborating with partners and BD teams.
- Create compelling thought leadership and marketing content to support U.S. client engagement and enhance firm visibility.

Data-Driven Insights & Best Practices
- Utilize CRM systems and analytics tools to track business development efforts and client interactions.
- Analyze and interpret business development data to refine strategies and provide actionable recommendations.
- Foster a best-practice sharing culture, ensuring continuous improvement in BD strategies across teams.

Stakeholder & Financial Stewardship
- Engage with senior partners, BD teams, and marketing colleagues to align strategies and share market insights.
- Manage budgets and financial reporting for U.S. initiatives, tracking expenditures and ROI to inform decision-making.
- Cultivate external relationships with industry groups, associations, and key market influencers to expand the firm’s network and reputation.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Education & Professional Background
- Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of business development and marketing experience in a professional services, law firm, or corporate environment.

Strategic & Analytical Skills
- Proven success in developing and executing BD strategies, including go-to-market and client growth initiatives.
- Strong ability to analyze market trends, competitive intelligen
