The Transitions department is responsible for extracting and transferring data from legacy case management systems to LEAP for clients. The department is not only responsible for the technical aspects but also manages client's expectations in relation to data collection, migration and LEAP delivery/installation.

**Job Specification**

Reporting to Director of Implementation, as Data Migration/Conversion Specialist you will use the data migration tools available as well as technical expertise to ensure data moving from a legacy system is properly mapped, tested and the processes checked prior to the release for our migration staff.

Managing our client's expectations in the lead up to the data migration and implementation with regards to software functionality, what's included in the data migration, the transition timescales.

**Responsibilities**

**Data Migrations**
- Collect and restore legacy data, checking data and approve migration to proceed.
- Migrate data in an accurate and timely manner
- Reconcile migrated accounting data
- Produce reports on results of migrated data for client review and sign off

**Data Migration Analysis**
- Creation and maintenance of documentation and internal systems
- Maintenance of data audit checking
- Creation and maintenance of ETL and SQL Scripts to ensure the data migrations are accurate.
- Investigate and review data mappings for competitor case management systems.
- Problem solving on data migration software
- Support the improvement of processes for efficiently identifying and rectifying data quality issues.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Oversee quality assurance of department's data transition activity, particularly for trust accounting data.
- Ensure that data is high quality, and teams are delivering on deadline.
- Assist Data Migration Specialists with queries.
- Assist LEAP Partners with queries on converted data and data conversion software.

**Requirements**:

- Knowledge of ETL, field mapping (source/target) and MS SQL
- Proven experience with manual testing
- Working understanding of database environments
- Strong knowledge or background in legal bookkeeping or accounting (client/trust and office) desired, but not essential
- Experience with legal practice management software desired, but not essential
- Knowledge of legal terminology (e.g., matters, unbilled fees, disbursements, safe custody), desired, but not essential
- Affinity for data
- Quality orientation - accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time
- Technical knowledge and skills - achieving a high level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise
