Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Purchaser will be responsible for executing and managing aspects of the procurement cycle for materials, equipment and services, for all projects.
We are looking to grow our Equipment Yard with the addition of a Purchaser If you are a driven, creative, self-starter with a passion for delivering results, this is an exciting opportunity for you. The Purchaser will help develop, execute, and manage centralized purchasing, and provide general support for the Equipment Yard and construction projects.
This position is based out of the Equipment Yard located in Winnipeg.
**Responsibilities**:
Supply Chain Management
- Assist and support in the development of project plans and activities.
- Assisting in developing systems, processes and procedures that support the procurement of materials and site requirements.
- Develop analytics, systems, data management, metrics, reports with regard to supply chain management.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders (operations, national supply chain management, and finance teams) to prepare and review vendor agreements for terms, price, and acceptability of items to specification.
Purchasing
- Support and consult with project teams to determine procurement needs.
- Provide support to estimating team for pursuits and pricing as required.
- Collaborate and lead strategies to maximize cost savings and process improvement, and regularly report financial analysis to operations.
- Align with all current purchasing policies, procedures, and guidelines including electronic and hard copy purchase orders.
- Identify key contacts and assist in establishing and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Investigate alternative product options, negotiate with vendors, and expand vendor network.
Equipment & Materials Coordination
- Understand Company's guidelines pertaining to warehousing and delivery to various work sites.
- Track and maintain accurate documentation, including the coordination of vehicle/equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Support the Equipment Yard and project teams with all related administrative tasks such as invoicing, inventory management and dispatch of equipment and materials.
- Serve as a point of contact for sites for equipment and material needs as required.
- Lead and participate in Company initiatives as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years’ procurement or related experience, preferably in a construction environment
- Proficiency with MS Office as well as experience with Viewpoint and SAP an asset
- Business and/or Supply Chain Management Degree/ Diploma, or related certification/designation an asset.
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
- Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills
