**_Position Summary:_**

**_ _**The Communications Specialist is on the front lines of developing and executing internal and external communication strategies to advance Guelph General Hospitals communication initiatives. As a member of a small team, the Communications Specialist has superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and is extremely organized and detail oriented, capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects and stakeholder expectations.

**_ Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:_**
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related program from an accredited University
- A minimum of one (1) years professional work experience in public relations, media relations and communications
- Previous experience working in health care or a public sector environment, and/or an agency with clients in this environment
- Advanced expertise with content management systems, including WordPress, HootSuite for managing social media networks, and graphic design and photo/video editing tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills and experience developing a wide variety of communications vehicles and styles.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high profile, deadline-oriented environment and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands.
- Demonstrated highly developed analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues, physicians, and volunteers.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with demonstrated competency in information and communication technology.
- High level of initiative and self-direction.
