The Prince Edward Island Nurses Union (PEINU) proudly serves approximately 1500 members, including Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners employed by Health PEI, on Prince Edward Island.

PEINU is hiring a permanent full-time Labour Relations Officer (LRO). This is an onsite position with travel to various Health PEI worksites and occasional out of province travel.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the LRO supports our membership by providing guidance and expertise on the Collective Agreement and employee rights. The LRO is skilled at building positive relationships, creating presentations, planning events, facilitating meetings and resolving conflicts. The LRO is an advocate on behalf of all Union members.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Welcome new members to the Union and be the first point of contact for nurses requesting information or interpretation on the collective agreement.
- Provide research, strategic direction and administrative support to the Executive Director and Negotiating team during Collective Bargaining.
- Educate and advise local union representatives on grievance procedures, contract interpretation, and dispute resolution strategies.
- Manage the formal grievance process, including supporting local representatives, investigating claims, advising members, and ensuring proper resolution steps.
- Support members in the Duty to Accommodate process.
- Coordinate information sessions, site visits and special events.
- Engage with the Human Resources department, managers, legal advisors, case workers, government agencies and other stakeholders.

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- 3-5 years’ experience in labour relations, collective bargaining, and conflict resolution.
- Strong knowledge of employment and labour law.
- Knowledge of Human Rights Legislation, Workers Compensation Board Processes and Group Benefits.
- Training in disability management would be an asset
- Training in diversity, equity and inclusion would be an asset
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication abilities.

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, nursing or a related field
