**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Manager, Facility Services, is responsible for supporting the daily operations required to convert and set up for events, fields of play and stages at Scotiabank Arena, BMO Field and Coca Cola Coliseum. The Manager, Facility Services is a leader, innovator, creative thinker and problem solver with a passion for sports, entertainment, technology, media and live events.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead arena change overs and event operations
- Manage Facility Services with coordinating third party vendors, preventative maintenance contracts, long term planning, shipping logistics and Human Resource activities
- Oversee Supervisors, Full-Time and Part-Time Unionized Conversion Crew on match and event days, while considering project planning, budgets, and calendars to ensure the department is functioning efficiently
- Support, build and maintain required training to all Facility Services staff including but not limited to forklift, ice resurfacing equipment, retractable seating, stage building, safe work and behavioral best practices
- Review, analyses and action detailed shift reports, and comprehensive breakdowns for major stadium events and conversions
- Oversee with the inventory management process which includes but not limited to tools, hardware, tables, chairs, furniture and uniforms
- Support, coordinate and connect with other department lead to ensure operational support for real time fan and arena issues with a focus on health and safety and the well-being of fans and employees
- Key contributor in implementing standard operating procedures focused on the long-term success of the operation and wellbeing of mechanical equipment
- Monitor that the team is building, planning and closing work orders on the internal work order management dashboard
- Assist in planning and leading the department’s annual operating budget while observing day to day cost
- Oversee the install and dismantle of various conversion equipment, including but not limited to staging, basketball courts, hockey dashers and glass, concert curtain, temporary flooring, retractable seating, concert chair set/strike, bike racks, railings, risers and stage barricades and be aware about the escalations and take corrective measures towards them
- Collaborate with the LIVE event department in set up and tear down of conference rooms, premium spaces and dressing rooms pre and post events
- Continuously review departmental needs and coordinate repairs, maintenance and capital projects
- Key contributor in union negotiations, grievances and mediations
**Qualifications**:
- Certificate or professional training in business, facility management, event management, warehousing, sport and recreation management or related field from an accredited institution and/or equivalent leadership experience in a similar role
- Proven management experience in operations/facility management.
- Unionized labor management experience with the ability to interpret and read collective bargaining agreements
- Familiar with best practices in operating various sports/entertainment venues, preferably arenas
- Experience in planning, overseeing, and executing major events
- Proven leader with acumen to grow and operate a department
