**Overview**

As a member of the Park Infrastructure and Amenities Section team, the Parks Maintainer (Services) could work independently or as part of a team to perform operating and maintenance duties associated with the cities inventory of playgrounds, community trails, park signage, hard courts, outdoor furniture and other park infrastructure. Removes graffiti from municipal assets. Performs winter work duties including snow plowing, salting, shoveling, and patrolling.

**Responsibilities**
- Install, maintain, dismantle, inspect, and identify deficiencies in playgrounds, in accordance with CSA Standards.
- Inspect and maintain trail network surfaces, signs, structures, boardwalks and hand railings.
- Install, inspect and maintain hard courts such as tennis and basketball courts.
- Plan, organize and order materials, supplies, and equipment to carry out daily job assignments.
- Performs various work related to general park cleanliness throughout Kitchener’s park inventory, including graffiti, litter removal etc.
- Independently monitor and assess condition of park infrastructure and identify maintenance based on understanding of levels of service and defined operating procedures.
- Operate various types of vehicles and equipment as required.
- Participate in the winter job pool process which results in winter job duties assignment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing.
- Mechanical and carpentry experience.
- Experience with a wide range of tools including power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and solve problems and perform minor repairs.
- Good communication/customer service skills and ability to keep accurate written records.
- May be required to be part of an on-call rotation.
- Must be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties including manual labour.
- Flexible to work varying shifts, rotational duties, weekends and overtime as required.
- Must be available for winter call out as required.
- Ability to participate as an effective team member.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
