As the largest municipality in Waterloo Region, Kitchener continues to be poised for development and growth, enhancing its reputation as a leader in city-building and innovation, with nationally recognized strategies to build its neighbourhoods, its digital infrastructure and its diverse economy.The **City of Kitchener** is WHERE you want to work Learn more about the top reasons to join us: **Why work at the City of Kitchener** Position Overview: - This position performs asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads; performs concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes; performs construction work related to sewer repairs, trails, sports fields, parks, and creeks.**Responsibilities**: - Primary function is a Roads Maintainer on an assigned roads crew in the summer; and winter maintenance duties as assigned in the winter. - Asphalt: Pre-trip Inspection, Road Repair, Utility Cuts, Crack Sealing, Pothole Repair, Infrared Repair, Asphalt Plant - Concrete: Pre-trip Inspection, Sidewalks, Curbs & Gutters (new installations and repairs), manhole repair, catch basin repair, mud-jacking - Construction: Community Trails/Sports fields/Courts, sewers - Snow Removal: Drives single/dual axle dump truck (tandem) with plow, wing, a variety of salters, and anti-icing (e.g., City streets, parking lots) to remove and haul snow, makes salt brine, operate sidewalk plow, shovel snow. - Performs other related duties as assigned. **Requirements**: - Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. - Must possess a valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing. - Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records. - Ability to participate as an effective team member. - Must be available for shift work and winter call outs as required. - Must successfully complete required progressional criteria as it relates to this job. - Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. *** - Please note that as per Human Resources Policy _HUM-HIR-_110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":_ - "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all _Directors,_ General Managers_, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._ - The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_ - 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full_-time and part-time classifications._ - 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_ **Department** Infrastructure Services **Division** Operations - Roads and Traffic **Union Affiliation** CUPE 68 **Number of Positions** 2 **Hours of Work** 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday **Location** **Initial Location - Kitchener Operations Facility **City** Kitchener **Compensation** **Salary Range** $30.77 - $32.58 per hour **Grade/Band** 6 (under review)
