The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect, and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Be a leader in shaping Alberta’s response to family and sexual violence. As Manager of Program Design and Implementation with the Prevention of Family Violence and Abuse (PFVA) Branch, you will play a critical role in leading strategic initiatives that support survivors, strengthen prevention efforts, and promote healthy relationships across the province. Overseeing a significant portfolio of community-based grants and programs, you’ll guide a dedicated team in designing and implementing innovative, trauma-informed services that align with government priorities and create safer communities.
The position is a content expert within the ministry and division family violence, sexual violence and abuse prevention and intervention, including representing the ministry as required at local, provincial, national and international forums. Some of the key responsibilities includes:
- **Lead Program Strategy & Innovation**: Design, develop, and implement provincial programs related to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse, ensuring alignment with Government of Alberta (GoA) priorities and strategic mandates.
- **Drive Implementation of Priority Initiatives**: Oversee the execution of high-impact initiatives such as the Women’s Shelter Program Renewal, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder engagement, and change management support.
- **Stakeholder & Partnership Management**: Collaborate with cross-ministry teams, community organizations, and provincial partners to design and deliver responsive programming while managing change and mitigating risks.
- **Team Leadership & Performance Oversight**: Provide strategic leadership to a diverse team of professionals, ensuring clarity in roles, performance expectations, and the delivery of high-quality legislative and programmatic advice.
- **Fiscal and Resource Management**: Manage the unit’s budget, staff, and operational resources effectively, ensuring accountability, optimizing performance, and aligning resource deployment with business plan goals.
- **Support Senior Leadership Decision-Making**: Provide expert analysis, briefings, and recommendations to senior executives on legislation, complex social issues, and data-informed programming solutions.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Recruitment Standard**: University Degree in a field (Social Work, Social Sciences) related to the position assignment, supplemented by 3 years related experience.
**Equivalency**: Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Other post-secondary considerations are Humanities, Public Administration, Child and Youth Care, Sociology, and Psychology supplemented by 4 years of progressively responsible supervisory or leadership experience in a child intervention environment.

**Legislative and Policy Expertise**: Demonstrates extensive knowledge and experience in interpreting legislation, acts, regulations, and government policies relevant to family violence, sexual violence, and related social issues. Applies this expertise to inform program design, ensure compliance, and guide strategic decision-making.
**Strategic Leadership and Team Management**: Proven ability to lead and direct diverse teams working on complex projects and objectives. Effectively manages team performance, fosters collaboration, and drives results aligned with organizational goals.
**Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building**:Skilled in developing and maintaining strong partnerships with a wide range of government and community stakeholders. Ensures that diverse perspectives and needs are integrated into program development and implementation.
