**The Role**:
The Manufacturing Cost Analyst is part of the finance team driving business innovation, growth, and success. The Analyst is responsible for understanding, analyzing, and evaluating the costs of production and providing insight to the leadership team to support business decision making. The Analyst develops estimates that support maximum cost effectiveness and accuracy of manufacturing processes and workflow.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Validate the Production Cost and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Analyze the organization’s total cost of production per work center (Plant Operations and Site Operations) and assess performance against key performance metric targets, such as costs per square foot / linear foot produced, waste factor, labour utilization, and other operational measures.
- Complete variance analysis for variable and fixed costs on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, including for example consumption of materials vs standard bill of materials, purchase price variance against market rates, labour usage, other manufacturing overhead compared to budget
- Evaluate profitability by product line and provide insight to leadership on opportunities to maximize earnings.
- Explain the sources of costing variances in the manufacturing process and related financial results and make recommendations for optimizing efficiencies.
- Develop, prepare, and analyze inventory reporting information including developing detail cost estimates, analysis and assemble historical cost data for business opportunities
- Assess and provide thoughtful recommendations on the enhancements of reporting capabilities and related supporting analytical analysis
- Contribute to Finance Department efficiency initiatives.
- Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise, challenge the status quo in assessing risks and opportunities, and contribute to on-going innovation efforts.
- Coordinating with other staff to deliver on finance related requests from across departments.
- Preparing and analyzing other ad hoc financial reporting as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement and kaizen initiatives with a focus on cost reduction, quality improvement, and increased financial performance.
- Perform other additional duties as required.

**You will bring**:

- Formal accounting or finance education, a professional accounting designation is considered a strong asset
- 3+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Deep understanding of cost modeling and profitability analysis
- Experience with financial costing
- Ability to work independently and within multiple teams throughout the business
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize key issues
- Resourcefulness in achieving deliverables within a fast-paced environment
- A strong ability to get things done, take decisions and exercise sound judgement
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, with exposure to Netsuite being an asset
- A desire to challenge the status quo in seeking innovative improvements
- Being a team player and business enabler
