**Who we are looking for**
We are seeking a full-time Manager of Finance & Administration to join our Senior Leadership Team. You will provide financial oversight and leadership in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities as set by our Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will work with our Program Managers and Supervisors to ensure the effective operation of the Club’s programs within approved budgets and procedures, evaluate program effectiveness based on emerging community needs, and provide the appropriate supports for the Club and its staff to carry out our mission.
**Your Responsibilities**:
Financial
- Oversee all financial functions, including GL, A/P, A/R, and payroll (some of these functions performed directly by the Manager of Finance);
- Coordinate the organization’s annual budget process, and collaborate with Executive
Director and Program Managers on internal and external budget submissions;
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciliations, monitor against approved budgets, and provide regular reports to Executive Director and Management Team;
- Oversee and evaluate financial policies, systems and procedures for the organization;
- Manage the Club’s cash flow and the relationship with banking and investment institutions;
- Prepare all documentation for the annual audit and act as primary liaison with auditors;
- Prepare the annual charity return, pension plan return, and external reports for funders.
Strategy / Management
- Advise the Executive Director and Management Team on effectiveness, quality, and
strategic direction of financial initiatives;
- Ensure all relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines relating to the financial functions and operations of registered charities are adhered to;
- Provide staff support to the Board of Directors, including the Treasurer and Finance
Committee
Human Resources
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with privacy legislation and organization policies;
- Manage the relationship with the organization’s benefits broker and providers;
Information Technology
- Evaluate new hardware and software acquisitions to meet the organization’s financial and administrative objectives;
- Act as liaison with the Club’s IT contractor
Supervision
- Provide supervision and leadership to the Club’s administrative staff;
- Lead meetings and performance evaluations involving direct reports
**Your Qualifications**:
- University level degree in accounting, finance, business, or demonstrated equivalent.
- A recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) will be an asset;
- Experience in a not-for-profit, charitable, or public sector environment involving interaction with government funders;
- Progressive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and supervisory roles - five years recommended;
- Superior decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving skills;
- Supervisory, interpersonal, and English communication (oral and written) skills;
- Alignment with the vision, mission, and values of BGC Hamilton-Halton;
