**The Human Resource Adviso**r is responsible for providing HR advice, guidance and support to CUPS staff and leaders as well as executing on HR projects and initiatives in support of CUPS strategic direction. The HR Advisor will be responsible for disability administration, supporting employee relations, policy updates, stewarding and updating CUPS occupational health & safety program, as well as recruitment. The HR Advisor will provide guidance to all workers at CUPS in creating an effective, safe and respectful workplace.
**Leadership**:
- Support leaders and workers in areas of conflict, performance improvement, communication and expectation setting, while operating as model in these areas in personal interactions at CUPS
- Advocate for and educate on best practices of worker health and wellness, including psychological health and wellness in the workplace
- Identify opportunities and propose solutions for continuous improvement in HR initiatives, policies and department effectiveness
**Organizational Alignment and Performance**:
- Job Description, posting and job hazard development, maintenance and distribution
- Working with CUPS HR Business Partner, support the management of employee leaves and disability claims while maintaining the privacy of all workers to the highest standards and supporting return to work plans as required for worker and team success
- Supporting the organizational stability through effective onboarding programs for both new employees and to support employee transitional learnings into leadership positions
- Support securement of external training programs to achieve organization objectives and compliance with oversight bodies
- Maintain and update required policies, procedures and practices for CUPS health and safety program in alignment with Alberta Occupation Health & Safety and CUPS objective of a healthy and respectful workplace
- Guide Practicum Student program, including the selection of students, orientation to new students and working with leadership providing practicum support
- Support employees and leaders in employee relations matters and performance management, conversations, providing coaching and support to leaders while ensuring the dignity of the worker and legislation requirements are upheld
**Stakeholder Relations**:
- Develop and maintain collaborative and accountable working relations with internal CUPS colleagues to strengthen communication flow and cross-departmental understanding
- Work in tandem with leaders developing strong and supportive relations to assist in the delivery of people program across CUPS
- Work in collaboration with HR team members, assisting in all areas when required to support team objectives
- Act as ambassador of CUPS mission and values both internally and externally
**Background required**:
- University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related area of study
- 3 -5 years experience of relevant Human Resources experience
- CPHR Designation an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of legislation pertaining to HR and Health & Safety
- Demonstrated skill in coaching, conflict management and/or mediation an asset
