The Materials Technician role will entail - Conduct quality inspections on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. - Monitor the proper placement of various construction materials and assess the quality of workmanship. - Report any identified non-conformance concerns to the management team. - Prepare and collect samples for laboratory testing. - Perform tests in the field or laboratory on construction materials to evaluate their quality. - Ensure the proper maintenance and care of materials testing equipment and vehicles. - Foster and maintain positive client relations through effective communication and collaboration. - Actively engage in and support Helix's Quality Management System. Job Requirements - Enrollment in a Civil, Mining or Mechanical Engineering program with 1-2 years of academic experience. - Possession of CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 certifications. - Up to 1 year of construction experience is preferred. - Valid driver's license with a clean driver abstract. - Effective communication skills. - Ability to follow instructions accurately. - Strong attention to detail. - Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. - Enthusiasm for outdoor work. **Job Types**: Full-time, Internship Contract length: 4-8 months **Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 35 per week **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Company events - Dental care - Extended health care - Life insurance - On-site parking - Paid time off - Vision care Flexible Language Requirement: - French not required Supplemental pay types: - Overtime pay Work Location: In person
