**Job Summary**
The Accounting and Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day processing of accounts payable and receivable, organizational payroll, updating the HR database, providing ad-hoc reports for budget monitoring and assisting in the preparation of financial reports of the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA). The incumbent must always, during their duties, uphold the KSA Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, Procedures, Collective Agreement and Strategic Plan.

**Duties** **and Responsibilties**
- Process invoices, cheque requests and expense reports
- Check all payables and secure authorization and approvals before further processing
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for accounts receivable and payable processing
- Assist in maintenance of records of cash advances and monitor proper accounting using receipts
- Update KSA official forms for accounting, HR and payroll purposes
- Help maintain and update software related to Accounting, Banking Finance and Payroll
- Assist in the completion of bank reconciliations on a monthly basis for all bank accounts
- Follow up the status of outstanding cheques and investigate cheques to be issued and stop payments
- Enter investment statements into Quicken and generate reports as needed
- Collect information and compile a database of all governance motions for funds to be disbursed
- Assist the Financial Controller in updating the budget and preparing reports of budget line items
- Collect, sort, and distribute mail on a daily basis
- Scan, photocopy and file documents appropriately
- Provide relief work for Accounting staff on vacation or sick leave
- Fulfill other roles and ad-hoc assignments during peak times and heavy workload periods, particularly during the year-end and financial audit
- Other duties as assigned

**Skills**
- Must possess post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Business Administration or Accounting
- Minimum 6-months financial or accounting experience required - Payroll experience an asset
- Knowledge of finance, budgeting and accounting principles and regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills - Must be fluent in English
- Proficiency in a MS Office environment with an intermediate understanding of Excel
- Experience with Simply Accounting and/or SAGE 50 Premium an asset
- Have a desire to learn and a passion to make a difference in the world
- Ability to work effectively independently, or as part of a team, as required
- Ability to work under pressure and remain focused while managing several projects at once
- Personable, empathetic, professional, and well-organized

Pay: $27.03 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
